"As a hunter, you are the final judge as to whether your
actions are right or wrong
." Aldo Leopold.

I did not start hunting until I was 22 years old. My hunting
education came from friends and magazine articles, then
applying that information to my time in the outdoors. I had
some firearm safety training from the Police Academy.
Attending an Illinois Hunter Education course with one of my
older of six daughters at a Pistol & Rifle Club in 1991 helped
me realize that I could be safer.

When I took my son to a Hunter Education class a year later at
our local Community Center, the class was being taught by
one instructor, our mailman, not five men like the class I took
my daughter to. I started helping him out when I could. At the
end of the class, the Instructor looked at me and said "You
seem to enjoy this so much, you should become an Instructor."
And that is how I became a Volunteer Instructor for Illinois
Department of Conservation in 1993.

Moving to Texas, I began teaching for Texas Parks & Wildlife
Department in 1995. Attained the rank of Volunteer Master
Instructor after completing the Hunter Education Academy
Instructor courses in one year. I hold NRA Instructor's
certification in Home Firearm Safety, Personal Protection,
Pistol, Rifle,& Shotgun and Muzzle Loading Pistol, Rifle &
Shotgun, and Range Safety Officer.

During the many years working for General Motors, I had the
opportunity to be in their Training Department where I learned
many teaching skills.

My classes are interactive and have plenty of visual aids.
I try to offer classes as often as my schedule will allow,
especially in August, September and October for the fall and
winter hunting season. Also before spring turkey season.
Group classes can be arranged at least 30 days in advance.
