On right: 2nd day we harvested 16 ducks... green
wing teals, pintails, redheads and a pair of
buffelheads.
Three birds not pictured went to the taxidermist
.
3rd Hunt - flooded timber & field ducks
On right: 2nd day harvest with the guide, his dog
and yours truly. Not shown are another hunter and
his son who helped bring down these beautiful
birds. Mallards, green wing teal, widgeon and a
golden eye.
Shown at left: "Big Mac sitting at the table with
all the ducks harvested the second day of the
hunt. Standing behind him are myself, Hirshell,
Sandy and Scott.
4th Hunt - Plowed crop fields for dark geese in
Haskel County
On right: 1st day harvest, we limited out on
Canadians by 9:30 am and even took a few light
geese. They were coming in, flight after flight, the
dog hardly had time to retrieve them all between
shots. We stayed at the Krooked River Ranch,
accommodations were comfortable and the food was
great.
On left: 2nd day harvest was good but not as
good the day before. Although we did get the
opportunity to hunt with one of the Pro
Hunters, Jerry Martin from BassPro Outdoors,
his guest and their camera man (shown below)
All in all, the money that Hirsell spent on the Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept. "raffel"
hunts was well worth it.
