At a traditional class at
Alpine Gun Range in Fort
Worth, Volunteer Master
Instructor Jim Schaefer is
holding up an "Outdoor
Annual" discussing with
the class the difference
between ethics (the
unwritten law) and hunting
laws and regulations.
Game Warden
Marissa Shultz was
kind enough to
cover the written
law for hunting and
explain the
regulations as
needed. She also
answered
questions from the
class.
My father-in-law,
Walter Hahs,
enjoys helping out
when ever he can.
Here he is handing
out the Final Exam
and answer sheets.
Volunteer Instructor
Omar Cotter is
demonstrating how
a lever action rifle
works and where
the safety is located.
He also is a very
good fishing guide
when it comes to
Stripe Bass and
Sand Bass.
Game Warden Michael
McCall shows a hawk's
foot that was possessed
illegally. Birds of prey
are protected. He found
it hanging from
someone's rear view
mirror. Officer McCall is
one of several Game
Wardens that take turns
helping out with classes.
Volunteer Instructor Brian
O'Dwyer demonstrates how
to safely use a muzzle
loading rifle. That includes
what kind of powder to use
(and not use) how to load,
what tools to use in loading,
shooting it safely and the
differences in cleaning a
black powder firearm verses
a modern firearm.
Volunteer Master Instructor,
Dan Hutchinson explains the
differences in archery
equipment.

Here he is discussing proper
fit of a compound bow to the
user and why it is important.
Also covers what protective
equipment you should have
and how to use a bow and
arrow safely.
