Hunting photos
Here are some pictures of our hunting experiences that we thought you might enjoy
Kandice & her 4th Grade teacher, Milt Barnum and I
went turkey hunting, spring of 2003. She does a very
good hen call without any tools.
No, he's not my brother. We are just hunting
and fishing buddies.
Spring turkey season can be a beautiful
experience even without harvesting a bird.
It can also be dangerous as this 5' long
diamond back rattlesnake that I encountered
walking out of the woods shows. Be prepared
for the these kind of situations and having
good reflexes doesn't hurt either. I was a little
more than 3 ft. away when he started rattling.

Hooded Merganser harvested by Omar Cotter
during Duck season in the Paris Texas area on
Public Hunting Land and the mount was done
at Alpine Taxidermy after sitting in my freezer
for 4 years..
Jim Schaefer harvested this nice Pin Tail on
the Waterfowl Adventure Hunt guided by Bay
Prairie Outfitters in the salt marshes for the
Gulf. This bird was almost one of the ones that
got away, thanks to steel shot. It was about a
200 yrd retrieve. Mount was also done at
Alpine Taxidermy.
Being a friend of a Texas Parks & Wildlife
"Big Time Texas Hunt"   winner is a great
experience.

The first Texas deer that I harvested was a
management doe at "The Big Woods" near
Palestine. I had to stalk this one and shot it from
250 yards.

On left: I would like to introduce you to my new
hunting partner! Felicity is my nine years old grand
daughter. This past July she told me she would like
to "shoot a buckskin".

We didn't have an opportunity to go deer hunting
until the last week-end of the January Youth Only
Deer season. One day was all it took to get her
hooked on hunting. And that was before she
harvested this "spike" on one side.
Two weeks
later this
190 pound
feral hog
and her
brood ran
off the doe I
was
watching,
hoping to
bring in a
buck. So I
figured
ham, bacon
and pork
sausage
was better
than
nothing.
Opening weekend of the General Season I had to work on Saturday
but I did get out for an evening hunt on Sunday. This young 8-pointer
came through on the run chasing a doe that ran through just seconds
before.
An hour and a half
after the buck,
some feral hogs
showed up at
about 5 pm. This
one weighed in at
75 pounds. Forty
five minutes later I
harvested this "cull
buck" that had a
spike on one side.
This was the
second year that
he was a spike on
one side with the
only difference
from last year was
that the antlers
were longer this
year.
